About E-Lawyer

It’s about time that lawyers got a break…

E-lawyer offers free websites and hosting to attorneys...without ads. Designed to be a comprehensive nationwide directory of attorneys and law firms, lawyers enjoy a free opportunity to showcase their qualifications, experience and practice information. E-lawyer is a free forum for Attorneys to provide potential clients with the information they need to find the right lawyer.

… but it’s the Public that really benefits.

Phone book, television and newspaper ads are generally poor ways to select an attorney. Without the means to instantly make meaningful contact with and compare the qualifications of attorneys, clients often make misinformed choices.

E-lawyer is different. Since membership and services are free, our directory is not the advertising contest the phonebook and television have become.

People can now make a more informed decision about choosing the person who will advise and guide them through circumstances that are often perilous, stressful, and difficult.

Our Mission…has always been to improve the delivery of legal services through technology.

By providing a free web platform, all attorneys can participate. Thousands of great lawyers who never advertise or don’t even have a website can now join the “web conversation” and post qualifications, articles, practice and office information, staff profiles and more.

Our Ask Attorneys inquiry system is also free to attorneys and the public. By sending inquiries directly to attorneys willing to handle similar cases, potential clients have a unique opportunity to expand their options.

Law Students and legal job candidates of all types always enjoy free services with us. Our employment center services are designed to be affordable and effective for all legal employers.

The Past…

“Seasoned” (not necessarily old) attorneys remember when attorneys were not permitted to advertise. The effect of this change is debatable save for two certainties… The marketplace for attorneys is flooded and expensive advertising in traditional media is less effective with each additional advertiser.

Remember when attorneys paid huge amounts of money for legal research materials, first with expensive reference sets, practice guides and form books, then expensive CD ROM libraries?

Without paying this “toll” to the handful of large research companies, attorneys were hard pressed to provide quality client service.

Younger attorneys haven’t had these same experiences because the model has changed… Attorney advertising is everywhere. Free online legal research resources abound.

Governments and courts post statutes, cases and preferred forms online, free.
Just as research is now largely free, so too is full featured web space for attorneys.

The Future… will find E-lawyer constantly developing new features to help attorneys in the business and practice of law.

Technology is changing society and the practice of law. Communications and exchange of documents are instantaneous and free. Geographic limitations are becoming less relevant to attorney-client relationships as more lawyers are able to effectively represent clients without regard to location.

E-lawyer is here to help lawyers adapt to these changes no matter what their technological level of sophistication. After all we are trained as attorneys, not computer programmers.

Lawyers are business people and solutions need to be economical and effective. We intend to keep as many of our services free to attorneys as possible.

Our forums will continue to be a place where freedom of speech is honored and attorneys are encouraged to collaborate and help each other help their clients.
