e-Lawyer is better than representing yourself

There is an old saying: “The lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client.” It only stands to reason that a non lawyer representing himself faces some significant potential problems.

Websites like Legal Zoom and "will kits" published by legal form companies simply do not provide the level of comfort, security and accountability that comes with hiring an attorney.

Competitive Pricing

With advances in technology, we keep overhead low and provide legal services for a fraction of what we charge in our regular offices. You get the benefit of an attorney for a competitive price. Check out our price comparison page.

No Uncertainty
attorney is better than DIY Non-lawyers are prohibited from giving legal advice. Non-lawyers are not permitted to make recommendations of any kind, including what type of deed, Will, or other legal instrument you may need. They are not allowed to advise you how to fill out any legal documents or forms. Non-lawyers are only permitted to act as typing services and the unwary client takes huge risks using these services.

Without a lawyer, you are left on your own to figure out the subtelties that are second nature to our attorneys. Attorneys give legal advice every day to clients just like you. Chances are, the problem or issue which seems so complicated and impossible to you is a routine matter for an attorney who does this job every day.

Disclaimers

Legal Zoom and others have plenty of disclaimers on their websites. Here are a couple of examples:

  • “The information provided from this site is not legal advice.”
  • “We are not a law firm or a substitute for an attorney or law firm. We cannot provide any kind of advice, explanation, opinion, or recommendation about possible legal rights, remedies, defenses, options, selection of forms or strategies.”
  • “Communications…. (are not) ….protected by the attorney/ client privilege.”
  • “this site does not provide legal advice and use of this site is not a substitute for hiring an attorney licensed to practice in your state.”

Why not heed the warnings on these websites and hire an attorney. e-Lawyer makes it easier than ever.
