What is a Promissory Note?

A “Promissory Note” or “bill” is a legal contract where one party agrees to pay money to another party according to agreed terms.

The terms may include interest and a payment schedule or the note can be interest free and payable on demand.

Notes can be given in exchange for money lent or goods/services/property received. All Promissory Notes must be signed by the person who owes the money. Our promissory notes contain a provision designating the State law that applies to interpreting and enforcing the note.
